Over the years, I've sat in on a lot of meetings. From board of directors meetings, to weekly team meetings at the office, to 1-on-1 check-in's with colleagues, to ad hoc meetings with CEO's, CFO's, founders, clients, prospects, customers, vendors. I've watched a hefty amount of webinars and tutorials and listened to an extensive amount of podcasts, lectures, and trainings. All these experiences had one core thing in common. Notes. Regardless of what each interaction was trying to achieve, notes were always at the center of every engagement.
Notes were the driving force that created meaningful relationships between companies, colleagues, business partners, teams, and individuals. Notes were often to thank for being a key reason in why prospects eventually chose to become clients, or why deals closed successfully. When the succinct details that were captured in the initial meetings through notes were shared with the respective party; they showed a high level of care and attentiveness. All important qualities and attributes that resulted in a positive outcome for both parties.
We take notes to remember and to learn. Essentially, it helps us develop, mature, and grow in our current roles, and as a result, it has the power to take us to places we've never been to! Meaningful notes show people that we pay attention (it's a form of thoughfulness). Being able to recall specific details helps us maintain great relationships with each other, whether in a business or personal setting. While we know this to be true, let's be honest, no one enjoys taking notes! Ok, some of us do (ahem)... This is precisely why we keep tabs on all the webinars or videos we want to watch. We don't have time to watch them, but we also don't have time to spend hours on notes, even though we know it could help us finally wrap up that passion project we've been working on, or help us learn a new skill!
While there are a number of AI apps on the market, they haven't proven to be a solution to this problem. They can transcribe your notes, but you'll be left with incorrectly translated words and wrong punctuations making you wonder if that accounting webinar you tried to transcribe was really talking about accounting. I've used AI apps and had to scrap them completely post meeting and take all the notes from memory because they were making references to topics completely unrelated to what was stated in those meetings. Let's face it. Recordings and videos aren't perfect. People's voices cut out all the time. AI will never be able to pick that up. On the other hand, a state of the art, reliable system with a human touch can!
That's why I founded The Notetaker Co. A company created on the firm belief that you should have noteworthy notes!
